OPENING HOURS / COVID-19 / CONTACT US

PROHIBITION CABARET BAR WILL RE-OPEN SATURDAY 1ST AUGUST 2020!

COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS ARE IN PLACE FOR YOUR SAFETY AND COMFORT.
HERE FOLLOWS A STATEMENT FROM THE BOSS:

“It gives me great pleasure to announce the long-awaited re-opening of my little gaff, Saturday 1st August at 7pm!

Entry will work on a first come, first served basis and you can rest assured I have made your safety and comfort my priority. For absolute fairness I won’t be taking any reservations or bookings – my doors are open to all and some of my customers don’t have access to emails or social media to book. Simply drop by during opening hours and we’ll hope to be able to accommodate you. Please don’t be cross with us if we are fully seated. We have rules to follow and we won’t ever go over our capacity so please don’t ask us to. We’d be delighted for you to offer one of our many neighbouring bars your much valued custom and perhaps pop back to us later in the evening and try again.
You won’t be asked to download any fussy apps or anything. We are taking part in the NHS Trace and Test scheme and while we encourage all our guests to offer their input this is not an obligation. There are simple ‘Using Our Facilities’ and ‘Going to the Bar’ systems in place with clear information on how to do this available in your (shiny new!) menus, on every table.
While there are fewer seats I’ve done my best to ensure the look and feel of the bar does not detract from our usual award winning aesthetic and I hope you will still feel the warmth and cosiness of the space as you have enjoyed before. I think I’ve managed to keep the set up as ‘Prohibition-y’ as possible but still abide by the government guidelines and regulations without it feeling overly clinical or sparse.
We can cater for tables of 2 people or 4 people. We can’t seat people together or move furniture so that you can do so. The furniture has been set out to the correct spacing and has to stay that way I’m afraid. Over time I’m sure the restrictions will ease but until then we really aught to do our best to follow them as best we can and help pave the road to recovery.
Both floors will be open but this still only gives us a total venue capacity of 47 so please bare with us as we seat you and serve you. And serving you initially will be myself, ‘Slick’ and ‘Eyeballs’ with ‘Sudds’ keeping everything clean out the back! My other gang members, erm, I mean staff, ‘Shiner’, ‘Scraps’, ‘Preacher’ and ‘Dickie’ are still on stand-by (furlough) but ready and waiting for their call should I need to bring them in. They’ve all been amazing and so supportive throughout the last four months.
We will do our best to serve you in a timely and organised manner, but remember, Prohibition is a different pace. We take things easy here, we do things the old fashioned way, it’s all about slowing things down and enjoying the good stock, the good company and the good times, and that’s what we do best.
The sweet jazz music will be at a pleasant background level for talking and catching up, the table candles will be lit, the lights down low and we’re ready when you are to welcome you back.
It’s been nearly 20 weeks but I can finally say to you again;

See you at the bar ~ Mitch”

Whilst we endeavor to keep to our opening times as closely as possible there will be occasions where the venue will be closed for a private hire or the doors opening times may differ. Any such alterations will be noted in the current monthly listings of our What’s On page, right here on the website.
